1. Who we are

Zoom Quest ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") is a game for iPhone and iPad. For the purposes of UK data protection law, the developer of Zoom Quest is the data controller for the very limited processing described below. You can reach us at gamezoomquest@gmail.com.

2. Summary

Zoom Quest is designed to be private by default. The game runs almost entirely on your device. We do not run our own servers that receive your data, we do not show adverts, we do not require an account, and we never sell your information.

3. Your photos and their locations

To play, Zoom Quest needs read access to your photo library. It selects photos to show you and reads the location (GPS) information stored in each photo's metadata so it can score your guess against where the photo was actually taken.

4. Information stored on your device

The following is saved locally on your device using standard Apple storage, and is not sent to us:

This information is removed if you delete the app, subject to any backups you have configured through Apple.

5. Third-party services

Zoom Quest can use the following services provided by third parties. Where it does, that third party's own privacy policy applies to the data they handle.

Apple — iCloud Photos

Photos are retrieved from your iCloud Photo Library, which is operated by Apple under your existing Apple Account. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Apple — Game Center (optional, on by default)

If Game Center sharing is enabled, the app submits your session and Daily Challenge scores, together with your Game Center display name, to Apple's leaderboards. No photos and no coordinates are submitted. You can turn this off in Settings, or disable Game Center at the system level. Leaderboard data is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Optional analytics (off by default)

Zoom Quest offers optional, anonymous usage analytics through TelemetryDeck. This setting is off by default and only collects data if you choose to turn it on.

7. What we do not do

8. Permissions we ask for

9. Children

Zoom Quest is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the game uses your own photo library, a child's device should be set up and supervised by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information in a way that concerns you, please contact us.

10. Your rights (UK GDPR)

Because Zoom Quest processes almost no personal data on systems we control, in most cases there is little or no personal data for us to act on. Where UK data protection law applies, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at gamezoomquest@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

11. Data retention

Data stored on your device (scores and settings) remains until you delete it or remove the app. Any optional anonymous analytics events are retained by TelemetryDeck in line with their policy. Game Center scores are retained by Apple in line with their policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if features change. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected in an app update where appropriate.
