How to play
It's not about recognising famous landmarks. It's about remembering where you were when you took the picture.
A photo from your library appears zoomed in tight on its centre, then slowly zooms out over ten seconds. Buildings, landscapes, coastlines — every clue helps jog your memory.
Tap Guess, open the map and place a pin where you think the photo was taken. Confirm before the countdown timer runs out — the clock keeps ticking even with the map open.
Your distance from the real location decides your points. Land within 500 feet for full marks, and guess early for a speed bonus. Build streaks, climb levels, beat your best.

Zoom Quest is a memory game for iPhone and iPad that uses your own photo library. A photo appears zoomed in and slowly zooms out over ten seconds. Your job is to remember where you took it and drop a pin on the map. The closer your pin, the higher your score.
No. Your photos and the location data attached to them stay on your device. Zoom Quest never uploads, stores or transmits your images, and your photo locations are used only on your device to score each guess.
Yes. Photos are fetched from your iCloud Photo Library on demand, so an internet connection and iCloud Photos are required to play. If iCloud Photos is turned off or you are offline, the game cannot run.
A standard game needs at least 25 geotagged photos — photos that have location data — in your chosen photo source. Screenshots are automatically excluded. You can play from your whole library or restrict the game to a single album in Settings.
Yes. In Settings you can add an exclude-location list, so any photo taken within a mile of places you add — such as home or work — is skipped. You can also restrict play to a chosen album.
Zoom Quest is a universal app for iPhone and iPad, designed for both portrait and landscape. On iPad the photos, map and controls use the whole screen.
